Around Manly
Manly Dam - A great place to train consisting of 47% singletrack, 44% fireroad and 9% road. Approximately a 10k loop with 229m of climbing and suitable for all levels. It does have a tricky rocky section of singletrack but this can be walked. An outer loop reached by crossing over Wakehurst Parkway road takes the rider to Bantry Bay and adds some variation. Now with even more variety with the addition of Serrata and Gahnia.

Mt. Annan - A purpose built track in the beautiful Botanic Gardens consisting of 85% singletrack and 11% fireroad. Contains a beginner and intermediate loop of approximately 9k with no major hill climbs. The course is a lot of fun and there are few places to relax into a steady rhythm and this makes it a very hard course for 24 hour racing - Thanks Rocky Trail!

Mowbray Park Farm, Picton- A 9km trail through picturesque bush and farm land with stunning views of the Wollondilly Shire.
Last ridden: 4th Oct 2015 - 9 laps
Appin - A more challenging and technical course with rocky climbs, rollovers and drops and a water crossing thrown in for good measure. After a few laps this track is capable of taking quite a toll on the body.
Last ridden: 23rd Sep. 2012 - 2 laps
Coondoo Road (Nowra) - This track is fast to ride and with only 103m of climbing it is much easier to maintain this speed during longer races. Just over 8k in length with 75% singletrack and 25% firetrail and plenty of variety throughout.
Last ridden: 4th Aug. 2013 - 14 laps
Wingello, Southern Highlands - A 25 km loop is used for the James Williamson Enduro Challenge and sections of this are part of the excellent Highland Fling event. A mixture of memorable singletrack and tough firetrail climbing.
Last ridden: 10th Mar. 2013 - 3 laps (75 km)
Welby, Southern Highlands South of Mittagong - The 10.4 km circuit is predominantly singletrack with a little fire road. The initial sections take the rider through sandy eucalypt forest, numerous rocky outcrops and countless pinch climbs before the relief of some faster, flatter sections.
Last ridden: 3rd Nov. 2013 - 12 laps
Mogo, nr Batemans Bay - A 12 km track was used in a recent STM 7 hour series race, incorporating long, gradual singletrack climbs and sensational singletrack descents with the snake trail a particular highlight. An absolute hit with nearly all the competitors.1

North of Sydney
Hornsby - This is a purpose built track and the best Sydney has to offer. It has been extremely well crafted, and provides a number of challenges for all levels. At the moment, the track is quite short but it is still being extended to make the most of the small area it is situated in.
Last ridden: 2nd Feb. 2014 - 17 laps
Ourimbah - This is still one of my favourite mountain bike tracks. The main cross-country loop is approximately 10k in length, contains about 300m of climbing, is mainly singletrack and is one of the best maintained and constructed courses out there. Highlights include Rollercoaster and Jurassic Park and the Magic Carpet section has returned.
Last ridden: 21st Jun. 2014 - 12 laps
Awaba - Another personal favourite of mine, the 12k cross-country loop flows beautifully and is predominantly singletrack with a few connecting fireroads, a number of bridges and some great rainforest sections. The camel back climb will get the legs burning and the heart rate soaring.

Last ridden: 16th Feb. 2014 - 7 laps
Wiseman's Ferry - Several tracks can be found around St Albans and Del Rio, but the most commonly used are the ones in the Convict 100. The main features are the Old Convict Trail fireroad, which includes some steep climbs, undulations, and fast, technical descents. The Convict 100 also includes a challenging and exciting Kayak Bridge Crossing.

Yellomundee - This is my club track and one that I ride quite often in Western Sydney Mountain Bike Events. The track is basically a figure of eight with a number of switchbacks, a challenging technical climb and lots of flow.
Last ridden: 22nd Feb. 2014 - 11 laps
Wylde, Cecil Park - A recently constructed purpose-built course in Western Sydney which resembles a long pump track with very little climbing but surprisingly a lot of effort is expended completing the full 12 km loop. Best avoided after rain as the track becomes very loose and slippery.
Last ridden: 12 Apr 2015 - 5 laps
The Oaks - Blue Mountains - A great training course, especially good on rainy days as the track drains really well. Lots of challenging climbs and descents. Mainly fireroad with a brilliant 5 km section of singletrack which leads to a more technical, rocky section. Ride it from Glenbrook to Woodford and back to Glenbrook, or, for an easier option, take the train to Woodford and ride back to Glenbrook. There is an option to add Anderson's or Murphy's for more challenging climbing.

Rydal, nr Lithgow - A 10k circuit has been squeezed into a very small area resulting in very twisty singletrack with lots of off-camber corners and about 270m of elevation. It's hard to really 'get going' because of this and it feels that to ride more slowly is to ride faster!
Last ridden: 28th Oct. 2012 - 15 laps
Kinross Forest, Orange - Predominantly singletrack with a mixture of technical pinches and smooth flowing sections and some fast descending towards the end of the main loop.
Last ridden: 24th Nov. 2013 - 14 laps
Back Yamma, Parkes - A 50k loop is used for the Big Foot race and 54% is singletrack and 46% firetrail. This track is FLAT and represents a great opportunity to post a PB for average speed in a race.

Mt. Stromlo - Stromlo Forest Park is described as "a world-class multi-use, recreational sporting facility available to both recreational and professional users." Without doubt, this is one of Australia's finest mountain bike venues and skyline and the Luge are 2 sections that are a dream come true. Several major events are held here not least the WEMBO World Solo 24 hour.
Last ridden: 7th Mar. 2015 - Capital Punishment
Kowen Forest - The Kowalski Brothers have been making this venue better and better for the last few years with a great amount of track building. This is now one of the best tracks in the area with some unbelievably fast and flowy descents.

Sparrow Hill - 82% singletrack through beautiful pine forest. An absolute favourite and has been returned to the MTB fold.
Last ridden: 7th Mar. 2015 - Capital Punishment
Majura Pines - My first ever 24 hour event was here and so it holds a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, it has been cut in half with the new airport road so its future is uncertain. Singletrack, pines and mushrooms and enough climbing to keep the mountain goats happy.
